Memory Monday - First Christmas Ornament

"When you find a golden memory, savor it." - Barbara Holstein

This Christmas is mine and Will's first Christmas together.  When we started thinking about putting up the tree and decorating, we decided to get an ornament for every year.  We looked around and didn't quite find anything that we just loved.  We didn't want any writing on it and wanted it to fit in with the other ornaments.  One night we were out Christmas shopping and found IT at Gordmans.  It is so pretty and matches the other ornaments great!  The tree is decorated with reds, greens, gold, and bronze.  The ornament is gold and bronze checkerboard.  We had a great time looking for our "2008" ornament.  I'm sure it will bring back the memory of finding it and celebrating our first Christmas together each year we hang it on the tree.

Memory Monday - Hunting

"She glances at the photo, and the pilot light of memory flickers in her eyes" - Frank Deford

This weekend I went hunting with Will.  Will has been asking me to go with him since the beginning of the season.  I finally went on Saturday.  I don't know why I didn't do it before then because we had a great time.  I got dressed out all in camo and even got my dusty boots out.

We headed out to the woods and climbed some fences.  Will got a good laugh and we were off to find a spot to sit.  We settled in.  I took a book with me and read a few pages (with shakes of the head from Will, apparently I turn the pages loudly).  I had a great time sitting there in the middle of the woods just enjoying the quiet, reading, and whispering back and forth.  We didn't see anything at all but as we were walking back with Curt (Will's Dad) the deer started moving.  Of course they would, they knew we were leaving.  We watched them for a minute and then headed home. We didn't get a deer but made a great memory.

Great Giveaway

I came across a great giveaway tonight through The Inspired Room.  Shelbi at Keeper of the Chocolates is giving away a one-of-a-kind pendant necklace from her Etsy shop, Shop Marigold.    Her jewelry is stunningly beautiful.  Please go and check it out.  My favorite piece is the Organic Romance earrings.  What's yours?

Christmas Wreath

Well I decided to make a new wreath for the front door tonight.  I have been looking everywhere for a Christmas wreath.  I found several that were ok, but nothing just clicked.  So, I ventured to Hobby Lobby tonight and decided to build one starting with a basic grapevine wreath.

Here's what we started with (and my helper).  A little sideways, I couldn't get it to switch around.

Detailed Poinsettia

Results!!!  I just absolutely love it!  It's hanging on the front door right now!  You can't really tell but it is completely covered in red and gold glitter.

So...What do you think?

Christmas Time is Near

I am so excited that it is almost Christmas Time!!  We decorated tonight and it just makes me happy! :)

Thanks to my Aunt Linda for a new craft idea.  This past weekend I made a tomato cage Christmas Tree.  It was an inexpensive way to create a tree for my front porch.  All in all the project cost about $10.  I thought I would share how to make this tree for others interested.

Supplies:
1 Tomato Cage
18-20 feet of Branch Garland (Lighted or Plain)
Lights (if Garland is not lighted)
Picks for Decoration
Ribbon
Zip Ties (to secure garland)

Step 1:
Secure the top of the tomato cage with a zip tie to ensure the top is a cone.
Step 2:
Secure garland to bottom ring of the tomato cage.  Start garland at bottom and wrap towards the top securing with zip ties along the way.
Step 3:
Wrap the tree with lights if garland does not include lights.
Step 4:
Make your bow or other tree topper.
Step 5:
Decorate and Enjoy!

New Blogger

Well, as I daily Blog stalk my friends I decided to start a blog.  I don't know what all I will talk about or share but this is a great way to keep up with friends and family.

I recently moved to NWA as my newest adventure and am loving it here. I am very lucky and thankful that my company allowed me to keep my job and continue working for them from home.  I am almost finished decorating my new house and will share soon.

I do miss my LR friends and hope they will come visit soon.  Will and I are having a great time and learning something new about each other every day.

Life is great and I know many more great things are just around the corner.  :)
